Coach Proffitt is a 1986 graduate of Randolph-Macon College and just completed his 14th year as Head Coach of the R-MC Softball Program.
He was recognized as the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach Of The Year. Proffitt was also named the recipient of the Randolph-Macon College Athletic Department’s Hugh Stephens Coach of the Year Award in the spring of 2012 and 2013!
Under the leadership of Proffitt, Randolph-Macon’s softball program continues to grow and improve on a regional and national level. In 2013, R-MC set program records for most wins in a season as well as in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 34-9 overall record and 15-5 conference record...the softball program also received it’s first ever national ranking when it entered the National Fastpitch Coach’s Alliance Top 25 poll at # 22 in the country. R-MC also finished the 2013 campaign ranked #8 in the Atlantic Region.
In 2014, the Yellow Jackets once again received votes in the NFCA national polls and finished the season ranked 8th in the Atlantic Region. The Jackets also advanced to the ODAC Tournament Championship game for the first time in program history!!!
2015 brought more success as the Yellow Jackets won their first ODAC Championship and advanced to NCAA Regional play in Newport News. They knocked off #23 Ramapo in their first NCAA appearance, went 2-2 in the tournament, and advanced to the championship game. R-MC finished the season with a 28-12 record and were runners up in the Newport News NCAA Regional Tournament
2016 saw R-MC finish 31-13...the 31 wins is the second most single season wins in program history. They were also ranked in the NFCA Atlantic Region.
